First day of church

Yesterday was our first attempt at all three of us going to church. It started out well, Makenna just sat and stared through most of sacrament (probably because their are so many lights). But then she blew out her diaper, however I came prepared for such an event and then she decided that she wanted to scream during sunday school so we raomed the halls for awhile and then she decided she could finally eat. A friend of ours told me to enjoy this time when I have a good excuse to miss sunday school becuase it does last forever. It ended well with her sleeping through all of releif society. All in all I say we did pretty good- we'll see how next week goes:)

Putting up with mom

This morning I was trying to get a cute picture of Makenna in her Christmas outfit to put on our Christmas card and this was one of the faces I got.

2 weeks already!

Makenna is 2 weeks old already! We went to the doctor yesterday and she's doing great. She only cried when they poked her heal for her PKU test- I was impressed. It's definatly been an exciting 2 weeks. Steve and I are the ideal first time parents who are paranoid of germs and react to every noise she makes. Who would have ever thought that such a tiny baby would create so much more laundry, garbage, and overall require so much work? But at the same time she has brought so much love and has been such a joy. I love just watching her, she makes the funniest faces. She always has her hands up by her face, she hates having them wrapped up in the blanket. She's just so stinkin cute!

We also put up the Christmas tree and decorations yesterday. I'm slightly an anal tree fluffer and I wish I wasn't because after I'm done my hands and arms look like they were attacked by a cat -but fluffing the tree, just so, is vital! We also always have candy cane ice cream after we put up the Christmas tree. We've done it since we were married and it always tastes so good. I just love this time of year. I love the smells, the songs, all the yummy food, and smiling faces. Hope that everyone has a happy holiday season!

A week of sorrow and happiness

It has been a busy week here at our house. Last week Steve's dad passed away, he's been sick for awhile and so we knew his life was coming to an end soon but it doesn't make things any easier. While it's been a difficult week it's also a relief, now John isn't suffereing and in pain. John was such a good man and will be remembered for his love he had for his family, the gospel, fudge, ice cream, and a good game of cribbage. These are just a few of the pictures taken from his funeral yesterday. It was such a beautiful funeral and the weather was perfect, it was a really nice day. It was also nice to see family and so many friends. It's times like these where you realize how grateful you are to have the gospel in your life and to know that we'll get to be with loved ones again.

(A picture of John)

(Steve with his siblings and mom)
(At the cemetary, he had such beuatiful casket and the roses smelled heavenly)
(Steve's dad served in the military)
Yesterday was also our anniversary! 3 YEARS. Time has gone so quickly. Three years ago Steve and I were on our way to Oregon for our honeymoon and for those who didn't know we went skydiving in Oregon- it was amazing but I will never do it again. The Oregon coast is beautiful and we always say someday we're going to move their. We went out for dinner over the weekend and Steve brought home flowers Tuesday.

**Baby update**- Yes today is my due date and I still am pregnant. I was hoping to check into the hospital yesterday after the funeral was over but I'm not that lucky (I guess Steve's dad isn't finished telling her all of the Jasper secrets yet for her to come.) The doctor is hopeful that it will be this weekend, but I'm scheduled to be induced the 28th if she doesn't come before that.

One year Older...

Happy Birthday Steve! Today Steve is one year older than he was yesterday. Any guesses on how old my cute husband turned today? This picture was his Halloween costume this year, he couldn't decide if he was mighty mouse or a wanna be gym rat.
Unfortunately Steve has to work today but tonight we're having pizza and hot wings for dinner and brownies with ice cream (it's a good thing Steve only has complete control over dinner one time a year) and tomorrow we're going out for ice cream with some friends. Hope you have a good day Babe! Happy Birthday!

FYI- if you didn't know you can sign up with the Cold Stone birthday club and when it's your birthday you get a coupon for a free "like it creation!" If you aren't signed up you should be- just go to Cold Stone website and then the birthday club link and you can sign everyone one in your family up to get free ice cream when it's their birthday.

36 weeks and the Baby's Room

I'm down to 4 weeks left, I can't believe it. While my pregnancy has been pretty easy it's still not on my list of favorite things to do. I think the only thing I'm going to miss is the excuse that I can't clean the bath tub or vacuum. I will not miss maternity pants, feeling like I'm being stretched to the limit, and people looking at my belly. Some things I'm looking most forward to when this is over is: seeing Steve be a dad. Our baby is already wrapped around her daddy's finger and she's not even here yet. I know I won't be getting much sleep once the baby's here but at least it will be comfortable, I can't wait. And most of all I can't wait to see what she'll look like. She is adorable in my dreams and I'm sure will be even cuter in real life.

I also finally finished the baby's room. It's adorable, the pictures don't do it justice. I have been under strict rules that things have to be neutral for that boy we'll have some day but I just couldn't help myself. Their are white daisies stenciled on the green part of the wall and now that Steve has seen the finished product I think he likes it. Thanks to my good friend Cindy and her husband Lance they got me the chair rail for almost free and Lance even cut it for me (Thanks again Cindy and Lance) Steve was also gracious enough to paint the top of the room and hang the chair rail but other than that I did the rest. Before this room was just boring white and now it looks amazing!

Poor Aggies

So with the changing of the leaves that also means its football season. Steve loves football, it doesn't really matter who's playing even if its the Aggies. Most of you will all know that the Aggie football team well...struggles... but my husband faithfully buys season tickets every year. I will attend a game if their is a chance it could be exciting, or we might win, and if it's good weather. Well the Aggies played BYU on Friday and I was not going to waste my time or money going to watch that game and out of all the games the Aggies play this year this is the one Steve really wanted the Aggies to win. (Steve HATES BYU) Well poor Steve came home with the most sad, disapponted look I've ever seen on his face, I couldn't even take a picture it was too sad. Maybe someday the Aggie football team will have a winning season or Steve would just be happy if they could beat BYU again someday.

On a happier note the other day the neighbor kids came over and brought me rocks they had colored with pink chalk. Aren't they so thoughtful? These rocks are along my front porch- their is about 25-30. They were going to bring me a whole basketfull but luckily it was bath time. I love the neighbor kids!

I have credentials!

Yesterday was a monumental day, I took the RD exam and passed!!It's such a wonderful feeling, I walked out of the testing center and just wanted to dance and scream. I still just sit and think about what a good feeling this is.... Although it's kind of a strange feeling as well. For the past 6 years my life has been building for this day and now that I've reached it I'm not sure what to do. Actually I have lots of things to do.
Now I can do fun things and not feel guilty thinking that I should be studying. On my agenda for now, baby things. We're going to start painting her room which will be adorable, and I haven't bought anything except for some packages of diapers. It's a good thing I still have 9 weeks.
I'll also be starting The Host. My friend Chris has been tempting me to read it but I stayed strong and said I couldn't till after my test.
Hope everyone else has a great day

A First for Everything

So I'm a cute little Mormon girl who has lived in Utah my whole life and I canned for the first time over the weekend! My cute friends Lauren and Chris came over and we bottled 3 bushels of peaches- that came out to be 66 bottles! It was a huge success, Chris was the mastermind in our canning experiences, Lauren and I took orders and we did great. Steve was worried that we might never have a clean kitchen again but by the end of the day everything was cleaned and all the jars sealed- it was so exciting to here them pop throughout the afternoon! I think our next adventure will be applesauce in a couple of weeks.

Random

Several small things occurred this week...
1- I got my first pay check!! It's been 8 mo since I've gotten paid for my services and I love not being free labor any more.
2- I went to the dentist and am still cavity free (I've never had a cavity!)
3- I reached my 27 week mark, only 3 months left to go of being pregnant! Everyone still says that they can't believe I'm 6 mo. pregnant, that I'm just not big enough but I feel huge and I don't know if my skin will be able to stretch any more.
4- We had a humanitarian project at the DI for enrichment. We assembled 140 hygiene kits and 300ish school bag kits in an hour. I felt like someone should have been taking our picture to put on one of the church's pamphlets, you know the pictures where everyone looks so happy and we're doing acts of service. It was a lot of fun- we have such a good ward.
5-Steve and I finally made it to Bear Lake this summer. The sun was out and was great. My raspberry shake tasted wonderful as well. This is a picture we took, that's our truck and trailer behind us. (JK maybe in 50 yrs)

6- For work we have to wear scrubs and of course mine are too long. Usually I have my mom or mother-in-law fix my pants for me but both are busy with other things so I tackled my scrubs on my own. They actually don't look to bad and even though hemming up pants isn't that big of a project, it is for me.
7- Last night Steve and I dug up our potatoes from the garden. We got quite a few. Our garden did much better this year than last. We've had green peppers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes. The only sad plant was our squash, the plant looks great but their are no squash growing and squash was our biggest success last year, I don't know what happened.

Hope everyone had a good week as well.

Campin' Out

This weekend we went camping up Logan Canyon with our good friends the Runhaar's. We had so much fun. It wasn't cold, we had yummy dutch oven food, I think I only suffered from 1 mosquito bite, the wives beat the husbands several times at cribbage:), and I had my air mattress, which was heavenly.

Aren't we all just so cute!

Happy Birthday to ME!

So yesterday was my birthday, and it was such a good day. I of course went to work but the rest of the day I did absolutely nothing! My cute husband got me the fourth book of the Twilight series and since I got home yesterday afternoon I haven't done much else excpet read (so much for getting my "to do" list done) Steve also got me the movie Fools Gold which really isn't one of my most favorites, however I do have a thing for Matthew, and Steve likes to tease me about it. Steve also purchased me an air mattress for our camping adventures- pictures will be taken soon of this wonderful gift since we're going camping this weekend. I think Steve's jealous because he's talking about getting himself one even though when we bought mine he said he didn't need one. Thanks mom for the earrings and Ione for taking us out for dinner! It's been a good 24 yrs of life- I have a college education, a good husband, I'm almost a mom, I've had several jobs, many embarrasing moments, 3 cars, the list is endless. I wonder what'll happen the next 24 years of my life?!

Minnesota Vacation

Steve and I finally went on vacation. We decided to go to Minnesota where all of the Jasper extended family lives. I've only met four of them so it was high time to meet the rest. We had so much fun seeing all the tourist things and spending time with family. Most of our time was spent in the Duluth area so we were right on the shores of Lake Superior. It is so green their, trees are everywhere and the weather was great. It was 75-80 degrees the whole time and only rained 1 day. Here are some pictures of our vacation!

Steve's family play's this game called cribbage (never heard of it till I met Steve, but if I wanted to be part of the family I had to learn how to play) The Jasper's play for money and so here's Steve with his Aunt and Uncle- $15 is on the line!

Steve's Aunt took us around Duluth and we were able to visit the cemetary to see Steve's grandparents grave along with his two uncles.

This is a mansion that you can come and tour. It was built in 1908 and was so beautiful inside. If it was built today it would cost 30 million dollars!

This is the famous Duluth bridge. When the ships are coming in and out the lift the bridge up.

This was at Gooseberry Falls along the
North shore of Lake Superior.

This was at their ski resort. We did the alpine slide. The second picture is the mountain they go skiing on- they need to come to Utah!

We had so much good food, and saw so many other things. It was a great vacation!

Our First blog!

  • I've been tempted by everyone else's cute blogs and have finally decided to enter the blogging world. I was also thinking this might work better than my effeort in trying to write in my journal (one of my New Year's Resolutions, every year). It might take me a while to figure out how to do this so don't expect anything too spectacular. Here are a few things Steve and I have been up to lately.

We went up in the canyon with some friends for dinner and they have some fun toys:)

Steve was the most popular kid their with his BB gun! Tayson also became Steve's new best friend.

This was at our nepew's (Jeff) court of honor. Ididn't get any pictures of Jeff becuase I was taking pictures for his mom. I did get some of me and Steve!

Steve doing what he loves best, eating sweets!
