Such a Big Girl!

Last week tragedy struck our house, Makenna's best friend Binks broke. While I was glad that binky broke so that I didn't have to decide when to take it away, it has been horrible every night since for Makenna. She has mourned its loss for the past 5 nights by screaming for a few hours until finally falling asleep. Steve and I were starting to dred bedtime.

Since sleeping hasn't been going very well we decided yesterday that we might as well put up her toddler bed, deal with a new bed and no binky at the same time (She has still been in her crib, I didn't want to give up that control) and she's going to be too big if we keep waiting.

So we went to work. Last night when she was going to bed she got her dolly and climbed right into bed without a fuss! I couldn't believe it.

These last two pictures were taken this morning. She loves her bed! Hopefully last nights luck continues.

Snow!

I am not a fan of winter. It's cold and lasts FOREVER! However now that Makenna is older I wanted to see if she would like being outside. So the other day the sun was actually shining so we donned our winter apparel and headed out!
Makenna loved it! When she first stepped into the snow her face lit up like it was magic. She didn't like it when she would fall over into the snow even though I kept telling her it was ok. So we just stayed in one place trying to make snowballs and dig around in the snow.

We had to stay on the sunnier side of the yard because in the back where it doesn't get any sun the snow was up to her hips, which made walking a little difficult. So ready or not here comes another winter:(

Putting up the Christmas tree!

We put the Christmas tree up over the weekend. Makenna loves the tree and rearranges the ornaments she can touch daily. She now says goodnight to the Christmas tree and baby Jesus every night. Its been so fun to see her excitement.

These antlers were in the box of decorations.

See all the round ornaments clumped together?

A Busy Month

I am very sad that I don't have pictures of this post but we lost our camera at the football game a couple of weeks ago and then bought a new camera which didn't work. We having a working camera now, but too late to document the past few events.

It was Steve's B-day this month and I think he had a good time. We went to the football game and it was perfect weather but that's also where we lost our camera. We went out to dinner and enjoyed spending time together.

We also celebrated our 5 year anniversary! I can't believe it's been 5 years already. We debated about going on a trip for our anniversary but decided instead to get some things done around the house. We painted 3 rooms in our house and then left for the weekend. We went down to Hogle Zoo, Steve had never been. It was perfect because there wasn't anyone there. I don't think I'll ever go to the zoo in the summer again, we had the place to ourselves. We went out to eat and went swimming at the hotel. Makenna is becoming quite the water bug and didn't want to get out. Thanks Steve for a great weekend, I love you!

It was also Makenna's 2 year b-day. It was so fun this year and she loved opening presents, blowing out candles and having so much attention ( I'm excited for Christmas). She got new books, a doll house, some new dresses and lots of love.

I love November because there is so much going on in our family and am so thankfaul for Steve and Makenna. They are my life!

Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

This year Makenna was piglet, she was adorable but didn't want to wear the hood, this is the only picture I got with it on.

We had our ward Halloween Party during the week, which is always fun. I was a cat and Steve was a mouse.

All Makenna wanted to do was the cake walk, and it wasn't even for the cupcakes. She just liked going around in a circle and dancing.

Yesterday, Misha had a party for the kids. We colored, had donut eyeballs and made these cute pumpkin frames. It was a lot of fun.

So cute!

Random Happenings

Nothing too exciting has been going on around here but I wanted to post some cute pictures of Makenna. She has been so funny lately, and her personality is coming out more every day.
Lately she has been singing a lot.
She loves to sing The Wheels on the Bus and knows all the actions, and yesterday she was singing " Shake, shake shake, shake your booty!"
Occasionally I'll hear her say things from movies: "Money, money, money", "Reach for the sky" (both from Toy Story) and " Hi Ho, Hi Ho" (Snow White)
She tells everything that she loves them (Halloween decorations, her dolls, anything really) but then I'll ask her if she loves me and she says "Nope" every time!

I had to post a picture of her actually smiling. The next two pictures we were at the park and I was trying to get her to smile by asking her to show me her teeth, and I got her tongue instead.

We were feeding the ducks and I think Makenna fed herself more than she did the ducks.

Makenna is definately her daddy's girl and has taken to looking at the sports section of the newspaper every day looking at all the football pictures. Steve has trained her that every time he says football she screams "Yea" and claps her hands.

No Smiles

My child really does smile, but as soon as I bring out the camera, it's all buisness. Makenna has been such a turkey lately. She is developing quite the attitude: tantrums, everything is hers, pushing my buttons in just the right way. She can be such a handful and then the next minute she's telling me she's sorry and and saying, "love ya". It makes my heart melt.

We got Makenna a bike seat and took her for her first ride today. She loved it! I think she really just likes wearing her helmet.

This would be the latest fashion statement.

She's taken to laying on the bottom stair pretending to take a nap.

Oh, what a handful but we sure love her!

When I'm 90....

When I'm 90 I hope I can be just like my Grandpa! He turned 90 this weekend and we had a big party for him. My Grandma and Grandpa still live at home, take care of themselves, are actively doing things and in realtively good health considering their age. I hope I'm just like that when I reach their age.
This is my Grandpa having some of his cake!

This was all of us lighting the candles on the cake (there really were 90 candles!)
We enjoyed spending time together and catching up on life and listening to Grandpa!

These last two pictures were on the way down to my grandparents. Makenna was holding my brothers hand while they were watching Toy Story to help make the time go by faster. So cute!

A nice little get away

Last week Makenna and I took a little road trip to see my good friend Laura and her family up in Wyoming. We had such a good time and enjoyed getting out of town. We were sad to leave Steve, but someone has to pay for the bills right?

We got to ride horses which Makenna did not like at all. She liked to watch them and feed them but she did not want to ride/touch them even with me on it.

She did love riding this horse though!

We also spent time up in the canyon, it was beautiful. We went to this spring and threw rocks in the river and enjoyed being outside.
This is Makenna and Ben and Makenna loved having two other kids to play with all the time. The boys also have cooler toys than we do. I think for her b-day I'll get her cars, airplanes, and trians rather than dolls and girl things.

I love that Ben and Makenna are looking at each other in the picture! So cute.

Yummy Popcorn!

Still Keeping Busy!

I can't believe how fast this summer has gone and how busy we've been, but we sure have had fun!
For the 24 of July we went to Bear Lake with our good friends the Runhaar's. Makenna loves being with the girls and she especially likes Bear Lake!

These girls are so cute!

The next weekend we went camping with my brother and sister-in-law. It was so fun to spend time with them. My brother hadn't been camping since he was 14 so it was high time he did it again.

I love this picture!

Makenna loved the extra attention she got from her aunt and uncle.

This past weekend we went camping with the Runhaar's. There was a stream that all the girls loved and I'm sure Makenna would have stayed all day.

We really did have a fun time regardless of this prison face look I was getting.

AND THEN... last night there was a reunion of us girlfriends from high school. I love it when I get to see them:)

It's Been a Busy Summer

We definatley have been keeping busy this summer and I have a lot of catching up to do.
To start off we went to Hogle Zoo with my good friend Nikki and her two boys. It was so much fun and Makenna loved looking at all the animals. She was such a trooper since we were gone all day long. The boys also loved having a little girl around and Nikki and I caught one of her boys holding hands with Makenna. It was so cute but of course when we got the camera out they stopped.

We also took Makenna camping for the first time. We wanted to do a trial run since we will be going camping a couple of more times this summer with other people. She was great! She played in the dirt, slept like an angel. The only thing was she was super grumpy the next day. We had a great time.

We also finally broke out our dutch ovens that we got for our wedding(sad I know) and the food was delicious!

We had a fun 4th of July. Our only plans were to watch the fireworks in town and we had such a good time with friends. Makenna could have cared less about the fireworks, she just wanted to keep playing.

We made it to Bear Lake last weekend and had a good time with my brother and his wife. I'm sure Makenna could have stayed all day. We walked up and down the shore several times and enjoyed playing in the sand.

Makenna got her first real haircut. I've trimmed her hair every now and then but have been waiting for her little patch in the back of her head to get longer before she gets a real haircut to even things up. She cried for the first 5 minutes because she didn't want to wear the cape, but after that she held so still and kept looking at Lindy wondering what she was doing to her hair. As you can see from the picture she was not very thrilled about this experience but I found it hilarious.

You can't really tell from this picture her new doo but I liked the picture.

I also went to Girls camp last week. The first time I've been away from my babe for so long. It was fun to be with the YW and a nice break from the usual home life but I was ready to come home to Steve and Makenna, I sure missed them.
We still have so many things going on this summer I can't believe how fast it is going.
