Last week Steve was on vacation. The past few months we would discuss whether we were going to go somewhere but every time we would start thinking of what we might do, both of us would start hyperventilating and I could feel a headache coming on at the thought of going somewhere with the kids for several days and not being able to sleep in our own beds, Chase not getting his naps and being in a hotel room trying to get some sleep altogether (we barely can make it one night at grandma's house without going insane!) So we decided we would stay home and we kept plenty busy.
We went to the Utah gymnastics meet. I don't know if it was Makenna's thing, she kept asking me when they were going to start playing basketball but she still occasionally brings up how some girls kept falling while doing their tricks.
We also started planting some things in the garden. I've been itching to get something planted since we didn't plant a garden last year. So far we've planted peas, lettuce, onions and broccoli. Let's just hope it grows!
Steve and I made it to the temple one morning.
I also got Makenna signed up for preschool next year. I can't believe my baby is going to preschool. She is so excited but doesn't understand that it's not for a few months. She keeps asking my if it's time to go to high school yet! :)
Our biggest project was we painted our living room/kitchen/dining area which also included the hallway and the hall down the staircase. We painted everything but the doors. It was insane it took 4 days but it was a much needed project.
Our whole house is white. The previous owners didn't paint anything excpet for one wall in the living room so it's had ten years of wear and tear and every room is in need of paint.
I'm standing at the stove taking this picture so we had to paint behind me where all the cupboards are and the living room is around the corner from where Makenna is standing. It was a huge project, but we love it! It makes it feel more welcoming and new. It's amazing what some paint can do. It also feels good to know that every other paint job won't be as big as this one.
I couldn't watch Steve as he was painting above the stairs, it made me too nervous.
We also celebrated my mom's birthday and all went out to dinner.
We watched general conference. Makenna was cheering Pres. Monson's name every time she would see him.. it warmed my heart.
We colored easter eggs in between conference on Sunday. I have been blowing out eggs for the past few weeks and it's been fun having them in a basket as a centerpiece on our table this week. We keep looking at them and pointing out our favorites.
And I finished this cute wreath for Makenna's room.
It was a great staycation although Steve and I decided that next vacation time we will not be painting.
