Converstions

Conversations with Makenna lately have been so funny and while it probably won't seem funny written down they have cracked Steve and I up and I don't want to forget.

Tonight at dinner we were discussing with her that we need to be nice to all of our friends and use kind words and I asked her what she thought Jesus would want her to do and in all seriosness she says, "In the Spirit of the Lord" and then rambles on about something. "In the Spirit of the Lord"- obviously thats what she heard this weekend in conference.

An elderly woman that I visit teach passed away last week. I had taken Makenna a few times to go visit Fern so we've been trying to explain to her where Fern is. So I told her that she went to go live with Heavenly Father in Heaven.
"How did she get there mom?"
"Well her spirit in her body went up to heaven"
"In an airplane?"
This has just caused all sorts of confusion because then I went to Fern's viewing and so she asked me if I went in an airplane to heaven to see Fern.
Today we drove past Fern's house and Makenna asked
"Is Fern all better?"
Me: Yes because now she is with Heavenly Father.
"Will she come back soon?"
Me: No probably not for a while but someday we'll see Fern again.
"Maybe on Halloween!"

I never thought of all the angles this topic could take but for a 4-year-old this has been hard to explain. She keeps me on my toes, that's for sure!

USU Homecoming

Last weekend we went up to Logan for USU homecoming. We met our families for the parade. It was a bit chilly to begin with but then it warmed up.

Makenna would not pick up the candy from the parade-whose child is she? Steve and I did all the work, but with cracker in mouth Chase was ready to go....
The rest of the day was spent with family and of course we went to the game that night, which Steve enjoyed- and the rest of us endured:)

Dinosaur Park

Makenna's preschool went to the Dinosaur Park a little bit ago and I was able to go with them. We had never been before and it was a lot of fun. It was a perfect day outside and everyone loved wandering around looking at the dinosaurs. Makenna and Audrey never left eachother's side and they kept telling eachother that the dinosaurs weren't real.

But I think everyone loved playing on the playground the best!

Growin' Up

This little man is just growing too fast. As of last week he has finally decided that walking is his mode of transportation. He was walking a little bit but crawling was still much faster until last week, he finally caught on and is now zoomin around upright. He's getting too fast and won't even hold still for a picture.
Also as of last week we are binky free!! I think the binky is more for me than for them. I seriously have a panic attack when the binky gets lost- so I'm always so proud of myself when I can part with the binky. It was a little rough last week, I didn't think Chase was that attached to the thing while sleeping- I never saw it in his mouth when I would check on him but he woke up every night last week crying. But we prevailed and have been back to sleeping through the night. Yeah!!!

Weekend Away

A few weekends ago Chris and I had our annual weekend getaway. Its a great tradition that we've started and I love it! We started our Friday eating at Bite Size for lunch and then getting manicures and pedicures. It was my first time getting one and it might have started a new habit. We then wandered through a Fall boutique that was going on. In the evening we attended Little Women  and they did such a good job.
On Saturday we attended a session at the temple.....
and then wandered around at the City Creek mall.
It was such a great time and a nice break. It didn't even seem like anyone missed me at home so I guess I need to leave more often for them to appreciate me, one night isn't enough!:)

First day of Preschool

When did my little girl get so big? Today was her first day of preschool! She was so excited. She quickly got dressed and ready this morning and wore her backpack almost all morning long- and kept asking me how much longer till we could go- after we have lunch then we can go. The moment finally arrived and she did great. She walked right in, put her backpack on the hook and went and sat down. I was so proud of her and I teared up for a second on the way home. Love her!

Les Miserables and Labor Day

Last week Steve and I had a little one night get-away! We went down to the Shakespeare festival in Cedar City and watched Les Miserables. It was amazing- I had seen it before but it was a first for Steve.  It was really good and we both enjoyed the performance. Our whole trip was fun and it was nice to spend time together without the kids, you know- eat dinner at a restaurant in peace, at a place that we wanted to eat at, a nice peaceful car ride, and even though I didn't really sleep in it was great to just lay there and listen to the silence. BUT we did miss them and they were on my mind throughout the day. I did think it was funny before we left Makenna said, "Mom, I'll choose the right with Grandma!" Why can't she choose the right with me? After being home only a few hours I was ready to have a break again. The loves and miss you kisses from Makenna were gone and she was back to her normal self.
Today for Labor Day we went to see my Grandparents. It has been awhile since I'd been so I was glad that I went. The kids enjoyed playing with Aunt Steff and Andrea and Grandpa was telling me stories from when he was in the war. It was a nice visit and Makenna also found all the toys that I used to play with- it was fun to see how much she liked them just like when I was a kid.
