Hide and Seek

We've been playing a lot of hide and seek lately (I'm so done with winter!) Of course Chase is noisy and points us out while we're hiding but tonight we were playing and after a bit I noticed I hadn't seen Chase for a while so I start calling out his name and looking around. I go into Steve and I's bedroom and I can hear him breathing but I can't see him. I'm looking around and I look into our closet, and we have  two bars to hang clothes and I see his cute eyes just above the hangers. He was so cute and proud of himself. He is so smart!

We've been playing so much we know the few spots we can hide but for some reason I haven't hid in the bath tub yet. So Makenna counts and I stand in the tub behind the curtain. Makenna starts looking and of course can't find me since I'm not in the usual spots and so I make a noise and she comes looking in the bathroom.  I thought she saw me but she didn't because when I poked my head out she jumped and screamed- it was so funny, she even laughed after a minute.
It was a fun night!

Christmas 2012

Christmas morning was so fun with the kids. I was afraid that Makenna would want to be getting up early this year since she understands what is going on but she didn't, which I was grateful for. Santa ate all  of his cookies and left some good presents. We're all spoiled that's for sure! Lots of new toys and activities. Makenna did get her Merida doll along with some new dress-ups, paints, and princess accesories. Santa came early for Steve and I, we bought  new king size bed and it is heavenly! It was a great Christmas and I love it with my kids!

Family Christmas Parties!

The Jasper Christmas party was a lot of fun this year- good food, good company, and good presents (there was a lot of stealing of gifts during the exchange which always makes it more fun)
I love Makenna's face in this next picture- like we're forcing her to open her present when that's what she was most excited for all night!
A new tradition has been playing Christmas songs on these chimes. Its a lot of fun and takes more concentration than you would think!
On my side of the family there are no cousins to play with and in Steve's family the next closest cousin to my kids is a senoir in high school, so when Steve's nephew and his wife had a baby we were so excited. All night at the party Makenna and Chase were following poor Hailey around so they could be with baby Clark. Makenna keeps asking how much longer till Clark can play with her and I think Chase is in awe that there is someone smaller than him! Clark and Chase are exactly a year apart... it's amazing how much they grow in a year!
My side of the family came over on Christmas Day. I planned some Chritmas Minute to Win It games. We did how many ornaments can you hang on the string....
How many marshmallows can you get through the wreath....
 The nut-stacker...

How many cups can you stack to make a Christmas tree....
And roll the dice and if you get doubles you try and open the present with gloves on before someone else rolls doubles....
We also exchnged gifts, had good food and good company as well.
Lots of fun. Love our families!

Music Performance

Along with preschool Makenna also goes to a little music class once a week at the neighbors. She loves it, she's always singing anyways so I knew she would enjoy a class dedicated to singing. They learn songs, learn about music, and usually do a little craft. The class right before Christmas they had a little performance and it was so cute. They sang 5 songs and Makenna knew the words to all of them. The only songs I can remember were For the Beauty of the Earth, My Favorite Things, and I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.

December Bucket List

December was so fun. It was so magical for Makenna and I really wanted to savor every day of this magical season. So I came up with our December bucket list and every day we tried to do something Christmasey. Makenna also is into being super crafty/creative lately so...
We made a Christmas wreath one day..
Decorated gingerbread houses...
We made these Christmas tree ornaments. It was popsicle sticks painted and glued together with pom poms as the ornaments.
Play in the snow...
And act like Mary and Joseph several nights throughout the month.

It was so fun. Other things we did were:
**drive around and see the lights- one of our favorites and also occured on several nights, it was a perfect way to kill some time before bed.
** make a treat.
** eat dinner and watch a Christmas show
** family and ward parties.
** attend the libraries story time when it was the Christmas theme
** Sing carols/read a Christmas story
They weren't big, amazing things but Makenna sure loved it! A new tradition for sure.
