Super Hero Party

This weekend we had our annual summer get together with my girlfriends from high school- well really we've been friends for longer than that. I love that we get together! This year, thanks to Misha we had a super hero party to celebrate Kira's birthday. All the kids got capes and a mask.

Then they had to save the dinosuars and other such fun creatures from the shaving cream mess in the swimming pool. None of them were really too keen on getting messy except for Aiden and Carlos- they loved it!

We had yummy cupcakes but the kids only wanted their iron man super hero rings.
It was a lot of fun and Chase was content to climb the stairs and get into things he shouldn't.

I sure love these girls and we missed those who couldn't come- I can't wait till Christmas when I can see them again!

Brigham City Temple

Yesterday we were able to go to the Brigham City Temple Open House. We were so excited to take Makenna, and she was so excited to go. She loves the temple and has been talking about going for days. We had to park a ways away and got to ride a bus to the temple, and that made the day even more great in the eyes of Makenna.

It was such a good experience and Makenna was absorbing every minute. At the beginning of the tour we watched a short video and she sat upright and watched the whole thing pointing out pictures of Jesus and Pres. Monson. While walking through the temple occasionally I would bend down to tell her something and every time she would say "Shhh mom, be quiet"
It was such a good morning and I'm so glad we could be together as a family!

Chase turned 1!

My little man turned 1 this weekend! I can't believe it's been a whole year already. He woke up on Saturday to a new dump truck and sand toys. He also got some new trucks, puzzle and clothes.

But really his favorite thing to play with were the balloons!

We went to the fair and saw the animals. Both Makenna and Chase wanted nothing to do with touching the animals, they were content to just look.

On Sunday grandparents and Andrea came for the afternoon and played and stayed for dinner. Then Mark and Steff and Aunt Jennifer came for cake and ice cream. I made Chase a dinosaur cake- it was my first attempt at creating a cake. I consider myself a pretty good cook but when it comes to the creativity of creating a fun cake, I fall short.  But thanks to pinterest and Betty Croker demos I figured I could handle this. It was pretty easy and I'll have to redeem myself for Makenna's birthday since she's never had a fun cake.
Chase didn't hesitate one bit at sticking his fingers in the cake.
And then gradually he just got messier.....
 Testing it out.....
Finally gets it to his mouth....
 And then in the hair....
 And then all over!
We sure love our Chase! A few things he's doing at 1-
* He loves the water
* He still takes 2 naps and is a champ at sleeping through the night 7:30- 7!
* He has 5 teeth
* He was such a great eater but then something has happened and the past few weeks everything is being thrown on the floor and not much is being consumed.
* Still not walking, I thought he would have gotten it by now but can take a few steps, but loves to zoom around the kitchen floor with anything that slides easily
* He is such a momma's boy and doesn't even like it if Makenna is sitting on my lap
* When I lay him down in bed he immediatly puts his hands behind his head and stretches out
* He weighs 19.10 lbs and is 30 inches long

Happy Birthday Chase- We Love you!

Another year

Another birthday has come and gone and this year treated me well. We had small celebrations for a few days which was fun. One day last week we went to Cold Stone for ice cream, and on Friday I went to dinner with Katrina. Afterwards we wandered some shops and stopped at the Sweet Tooth Fairy. It was great and nice to enjoy the evening kid free! Then on Monday we went out to eat at The Pizza Factory. I'm glad that Mark and Steff came along and we had a good time!

After dinner we came home and had pumpkin pie. Steve and I aren't the biggest cake fans, so we have pie for our birthday and it was delicious.
So here's to another year!

July Recap

Our summer has really been pretty low key this year but we have done some fun things. For the 24 of July we had a neighborhood party. The kids did a bike parade. It was so fun, they all enjoyed decorating their bikes/scooters and got to ride in the street! Makenna was so excited all day until the moment came for the parade to start and then she had a complete melt down.

We ended up being at the VERY end, seriously we were a parade all on our own, but she warmed up at the end. We also played games, had treats and over an hours worth of fireworks. We live in such a great neighborhood!
Me and the kids made a trip up to Logan for a weekend- It was my 10 year high school reunion, I can't believe it- I'm getting so old. It was so good seeing friends and people I hadn't seen since high school. But also it was my cousin Diana's wedding which was a great day and so fun to be with family.

Thank heavens for straws and water. Chase was completly entertained during the luncheon speeches/video just chewing on straws and playing in the water glass.
We missed not having dad with us but while we were away he cleaned my carpets!

We took the kids to a nearby aquatic center and they loved it!

We've spent lots of time at the park.
He's doing a pretty good job at ignoring me!

And tons of time in the backyard with the pool/sprinklers/ and water balloons!
