My Makenna

I haven't done a post just about Makenna lately and so we went up to the temple to take some pictures. When did my little baby start to look so grown up?! Her hair is getting so long and it's beautiful. She has natural highlights and I love it. She doesn't let me play with it though, her hairstyle of choice right now is down with a headband or in a pony with a headband. She also chooses what she wears and I'm glad we picked a good outfit for these pictures.
  •  I can't even think of words to describe my little girl. She pushes me to the limit everyday with her drama. One minute she's smiling and the next she is whining, crying and screaming about who knows what and will continue this way for  45 minutes while I've pulled every trick in the basket trying to figure out whats bothering her, and then she'll stop and be fine. Honestly, I'm worried about when she's a teenager and I'm sure I'll just be wishing for these days instead. She is definately a girl when it comes to emotions.
  •  On the other hand she can be so sweet and just give me a random hug and kiss. My favorite is when I tuck her into bed and she gives me the biggest squeeze and a million kisses. I also love when I can see Chase and Makenna holding hands in the stroller on our morning runs.
  • She loves to play with friends. That's usually her first question in the morning is if she can go play or she asks if anyone is coming over to see her today.
  • She is amazing on her bike and loves it.
  •  She doesn't like to be the spotlight of things. She hates it when she knows I'm talking about her. Today in Primary she was the spotlight and usually the kids will go up and they get to pick their favorite song. Not Makenna, she stayed right in her seat and glared. It was funny.
  • She loves the temple, and I Love to See the Temple is her favorite song. She is so reverent and cute in Primary and I love it. I love watching her and am so proud that she can be so reverent and sit in her chair.
These next two pictures crack me up. It describes my children perfectly. Makenna being loud and a goof while Chase looks at her like she's crazy or he's trying to do his own thing.

  •  Makenna loves to dress up and loves anything pink or princess.
  • She is such a goof and loves to play, loves getting wet, has a pretty big imagination, she's also amazing at puzzles.
  • Her foods of choice lately are still anything with cheese, especially cottage cheese. She loves pizza, poppyseed chicken, cornbread, broccoli and anything with chocolate!

We sure love you Makenna and are so glad you're part of our family!

Chase is 9 months

Chase turned 9 months last week! He weighs 17.9 lbs and is 28" and is just perfect. I tried to get some cute pictures but he didn't cooperate. He is always moving.
  • He's become a pretty speedy crawler and has started to enjoy walking around while holding our fingers. He's also mastered climbing up on things. I'm sensing he's going to be a brave little guy with no fears.
  • His first two little teeth are coming in right on the bottom.
  • Everything still goes straight to his mouth.
  •  He was being such a good eater but lately he puts things in his mouth and then spits it right back out. It is pretty funny because he squints his eyes while spitting something out.
  • He stopped nursing a few weeks ago which is fine by me, I just wish formula was cheaper. But once he stoppped nursing he started sleeping through the whole night..... until this week (I'm hoping its because of his teeth)
  • He loves to take a bath and gets so excited when he hears the water turn on.
  • He is just so sweet and we sure love him!

What we were up to last week

We've had a fun week in the sun! It has been beautiful weather so we're taking advantage of it before it gets too hot. We made it to the park this week. The kids played in the sand and we did a lot of swinging. Makenna could stay in the swings the whole time. Chase also had his first taste of sand, he wasn't a big fan.

Makenna had to take a little power nap on the window bench...

And we broke out the pool and sprinklers!

Katrina and I also crafted these fun wreaths! The patriotic wreath is just yarn wrapped around the wreath and the brown one is coffee filters pinned into it. So fun!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was so nice yesterday. Steve made breakfast but we couldn't just sit around because church is at 9 so it was our usual rush to get out the door. Makenna made me some cute cards from primary and she was pretty well tempered most of the day wishing me a Happy Mother's Day. She did however refuse to go up and sing with the primary kids during sacrament but she sang the song to me later. I also got chocolates from the ward.
In the afternoon Steve helped me cut everything up for dinner and we had dutch oven chicken and potatoes for dinner and pumpkin pie for dessert-delicious! It was so nice we ate dinner outside and just enjoyed the evening.

Every picture we take one of the kids isn't cooperating!

I am so grateful to be a mother. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, it pushes me and stretches me every day. Some days I wish I was the one going to work and Steve could deal with the whining, tantrums, crying, nap time, eating time and everything else in between. But I wouldn't trade being able to stay at home with them. They are my life! The kids have taught me so much about how to be a better person, to be more patient and loving, and how to feel the Spirit.
I also wouldn't be who I am without my mother and all that she has taught me and the example she is. Thanks Mom! And all of the other women in my life- friends and family who help me be a better person.

Baby Animals

This past weekend the baby animals came to town! While it wasn't quite as good as the event is in Logan we still had a good time. We of course had to ride the train and we got their a little before Audrey and her family and Makenna was such a grump until they showed up. This was her before friends came...
And this was the second time on the train when we could be with friends, not quite so grumpy.

There weren't as many things to hold, only muddy ducks and some chicks. Everything else you had to reach through the gates and try and touch the animals. Makenna wasn't really into touching the animals this year anyways. Its funny how kids are so different because last year she loved touching the animals.

Chase was a trooper and chilled in his stroller till the last 15 minutes and then he was done. What a fun afternoon.

Soap

Katrina and I decided to make soap with the girls to give as Mother's Day gifts. It was a lot of fun. You stick a bar of Ivory soap in the microwave for a few minutes and this is what happens... It just poofs up into a big cloud.
Then we put it into a bowl and the girls could play with it and get it all broken up. It's just fluffy and messy!
After this the girls left and went and did their own thing while Katrina and I were left to do the rest of the work. Next you put the soapy fluff into a food processor and put a little bit of wram water and blend it up till it starts to stick together. Then you can divide it up and make different colors. Use cookie cutters and make different shapes and then let it dry.

FHE, Crawling, and QOTD

A couple of Mondays ago we went to Cold Stone for Family Home Evening. This really is our favorite FHE, that and playing games together. It would be our choice to do this every week!

Also this little man mastered the art of crawling a couple of weekends ago. The second
you put him down he's on the move. He is pretty busy. We have a difficult time getting him dressed, entertaining him at church, really anything where he can't move around.
Makenna also has some QOTD that have made me smile lately. We were doing her hair one morning and she says to me "Mom I'm getting married this week.
Me: Who are you marrying?
Makenna: My dad. (Melt my heart)

Another morning I had just finished getting ready for the day and she asks, "Mom are you going to do your hair?
Me: I just did.
Makenna: Oh, well it doesn't look like it!
Gee, thanks:)
